The second anthology from the Dark Mountain Project
The second collection of Uncivilised Writing from the Dark Mountain Project was published in the summer of 2011. It’s a beautifully-produced hardback book with a specially commissioned cover – one of our beliefs is that a book as a physical object should be a beautiful thing in itself. It takes the Dark Mountain mission – to dissect the failing stories of our failing civilisation and to tell new ones for a new world – a step further.
Highlights include an essay by Naomi Klein on oil and precaution; explorations of the failing language of environmentalism; essays on survivalism, Hindu philosophy and the realities of farming; extracts from new books by Jay Griffiths and Melanie Challenger; the final interview with the late poet and novelist Glyn Hughes; an investigation of the Luddites on the 200th anniversary of their uprising; new poetry from Mario Petrucci and Heathcote Williams; and a lot more.
Set in Prociono and Linden Hill Italic, both by Barry Schwartz.
